The hurricane is expected to trigger dangerous swells along the U.S. East Coast, despite moving eastwards across the Atlantic.

As per the National Hurricane Center's 11 am Friday update, Category 4 Hurricane Kirk is 975 miles east-northeast of the Northern Leeward Islands and 1655 miles west-southwest of the Azores, with maximum sustained wind of 140 mph. It’s moving 12 mph to the northwest.

While Hurricane Kirk is expected to stay over the Atlantic Ocean, impacts could be felt as far as the East Coast of the United States by Sunday.
