Minneapolis police arrested a 10-year-old boy for allegedly driving a stolen vehicle near a school playground last month — and it's not the boy's first brush with the law, police said.

Minneapolis police say a 10-year-old boy has been arrested after stealing a car and driving recklessly near a crowded school playground, nearly hitting children who were playing outside.

Surveillance video shows school staff frantically trying to move children off the playground and out of harm’s way, the Minneapolis Police Department said.

It is unfathomable that a 10-year-old boy has been involved in this level of criminal activity without effective intervention,” said O’Hara.

A 10-year-old boy was placed in police custody after he drove a stolen vehicle recklessly across a Minnesota school playground, authorities stated.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said Friday that the boy was charged with reckless driving and receiving stolen property, as well as threats of violence and attempting to commit an auto theft, for a separate case in August.
