On Saturday, Georgia Power announced they have restored power to over 1.3 million customers following Hurricane Helene – more than 95% of all customers who were impacted. Georgia Power says intensive restoration efforts remain underway to reconnect customers in the hardest hit areas of the state,

Georgia Power says that since last week, they’ve restored power to more than 1.3 million Georgians, meaning 95% of their customers are back on the grid. The Augusta area remains the hardest hit. According to Georgia Power’s outage map, approximately 50,000 people are still experiencing an outage.

Roughly 270,000 customers are still without power in Georgia after Hurricane Helene devastated large swaths of the Southeast just last week. Gov. Brian Kemp relayed the data at a press conference on Thursday,

After making landfall in Florida, Helene swept through several southeastern states, causing severe flooding, destruction and power outages.

Those who were expected to get power restored by Georgia Power in the Savannah area may have to wait a couple of days longer than planned, according to House Representative (R) Jesse Petrea on Tuesday.

The Georgia Power, Southern Company and Southern Company Gas charitable foundations will donate $3 million to aid Hurricane Helene relief efforts.

More than 600,000 people were still without power Sunday morning in Georgia, a couple days after Hurricane Helene swept through the state, causing more than a dozen deaths and extensive damage, according to state officials.

The power outages after Hurricane Helene are larger than any other in state history, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp said.
